Reading slowlyon purpose
Twelve books a year, fully digested, beats fifty skimmed.
I used to chase reading goals: fifty books a year, a neat little progress bar, and almost nothing I could remember by December.
Now I read about twelve, slowly, with a pencil. I write a page of notes for each one and argue with the author in the margins.
Twelve books, fully digested, have changed how I think far more than fifty skimmed ever did.
